The following series of drawings are made with soil samples gathered from specific locations. They are ground to a fine dust in a mortar and pestle and applied dry, rubbed by hand into the surface of paper. The pigments hold well when well rubbed into the fibres of the paper and need no fixing. In several works are made with other materials such as mushroom juice and colour from flower petals and pollen.
The place from which the soils are gathered are often reflected in the subject of the works.
